Why AI answers matter now
A growing share of searches end without a click - the answer is simply displayed, often generated by an AI assistant. If your brand is not in that answer, you are invisible for that question, no matter how you rank.
Step 1: Answer directly, on the page
Write short, direct answers to the exact questions your buyers ask. Put the answer in the first two sentences, then expand. Assistant-selected snippets strongly favour clear, early answers.
Step 2: Structure with real questions
Use question-shaped headings and FAQ blocks. A clean question followed by a compact answer is the format both featured snippets and language models prefer to extract.
Step 3: Add structured data
Schema markup (Organization, FAQPage, Service) gives engines a machine-readable summary of who you are and what you offer. It is not magic, but it removes ambiguity.
Step 4: Be consistent everywhere
Your name, address, phone, and description should match across your site, social profiles, and directories. AI systems build an entity profile from all of it; contradictions create doubt.
Step 5: Earn third-party mentions
Models draw on sources beyond your site - industry articles, reviews, directories, news. Being mentioned and accurately described elsewhere is one of the strongest GEO signals.
How to measure progress
Track a fixed list of buyer questions in major assistants monthly. Record whether you appear, in what form, and note changes. That log is your AEO/GEO dashboard - imperfect, but honest.
What not to expect
No one can guarantee AI citations. The systems change constantly. What you can control: clarity, structure, consistency, and reputation.
